The Norwegian Centre for ICT in Education
The purpose of the Norwegian Centre for ICT in Education is to contribute to the realization and the development of ICT policy. It shall further cooperate with relevant public and private institutions. The centre will also participate in international cooperation. Our main goals are to improve the quality of education and to improve learning outcomes and learning for children, pupils and students thourgh use of ICT in education.
works to ensure that ICT contributes to improved quality, enhanced learning and better learning strategies among Norwegian pupils, apprentices and students. An important task will be to contribute to enhanced digital competencies for students, apprentices and students regardless of their social background and residence. A starting point would be to enhance the implementation of and subject related use of ICT in education on the basis of curricula and other governing documents, and help to ensure ICT as a driver for educational innovation.
develops and disseminates knowledge based on research into the use of ICT in education. It will, among other things analyze and evaluate the educational potential of new technologies and digital media represents, also in terms of future potential. The centre will promote digital judgment in the sector and follow up work on universal design of ICT. The centre will promote the development of ICT in the education of teachers and preschool teachers and other staff in kindergartens.
elaborates on and ensures the quality of learning technology solutions and professional service solutions for the sector and ensure the development of infrastructure for ICT in basic education. The centre will follow up the work of a national identity management for education based on Feide – Federated Electronic IDEntity - and participate in the work of identity management in the public sector.
collects and makes available information on education and professions, and provide support in choosing education and career. The national education portal utdanning.no will be strengthened to develop innovative services. These services should be in line with the commitment of the government regarding digital first choice, meaning that the services in the first hand will be digital, and that users must actively choose other solutions such as paper or phone if they prefer.
